In accordance with the policies approved by the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN), the contact info a domain name is registered with must be correct and accurate at all times. Plus, this information is publicly visible on WHOIS sites and while this may be OK for organizations, it may not be very acceptable for individuals, because anybody can see their names and their personal email and postal addresses, particularly in an age when identity theft is not that infrequent. That’s the reason why registrar companies have introduced a service that conceals the details of their customers without altering them. The service is referred to as Whois Privacy Protection. In case it’s enabled, people will see the details of the registrar company, not those of the domain owner, if they make a WHOIS lookup. The Whois Privacy Protection service is supported by all generic top-level domain name extensions, but it is still not possible to hide your private information with certain country-code extensions.

Whois Privacy Protection in Cloud Hosting

If you have ordered a cloud plan from our company and you have registered one or more domain names under your account, you will be able to activate Whois Privacy Protection for any of them without any effort and to keep your personal details secure. Of course, this will be possible only with the TLD extensions that support this option. In your Hepsia Control Panel, you’ll find an “Whois Privacy Protection” sign next to each of your domain names. Its colour will tell you whether a domain name is protected or not and in the second case, you can enable Whois Privacy Protection with only a couple of mouse clicks. Thus, you can protect your personal data even if you haven’t activated the service during the hosting account order procedure. You’ll be able to renew or to disable the Whois Privacy Protection service for any of your domain names just as easily.

Whois Privacy Protection in Semi-dedicated Servers

If you’ve got a semi-dedicated server account with our company and you register a domain under it, you can enable our Whois Privacy Protection service without any effort. This requires just a couple of clicks of the mouse in the Hepsia Control Panel’s Registered Domains section, through which you administer everything related to your semi-dedicated hosting account. This is the place where you can see all your active domains and for each of them you will find an “Whois Privacy Protection” symbol, using which you can order, renew or remove the service. Of course, this can be done only with generic and country-code Top-Level Domain extensions that support this option and you will be able to see this beforehand, so that you won’t end up ordering a service that we can’t provide.
